United Cargo announced it has expanded its service for temperature-sensitive shipments by adding Berlin Tegel Airport in Berlin, Germany (TXL) and Hamburg Airport in Hamburg, Germany (HAM) to its worldwide TempControl network.

These additions bring the number of United’s certified TempControl locations worldwide to 55. The network expansion offers United’s customers greater connectivity to and from Europe, according to a company statement.

TempControl is the United unit that manages the transportation of temperature-sensitive products and monitors them to ensure product viability at the time of delivery.

United serves TXL via daily Boeing 767 widebody service to and from its hub at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). HAM is served via daily flights to and from EWR. The Hamburg route is currently flown with Boeing 757s but will be up-gauged to the 767 effective October 25. Widebody access is currently available in HAM via road feeder service connections with nearby TempControl stations Amsterdam and Frankfurt.

Service specialists in United’s Control Tower are responsible for the planning, coordination and monitoring of each step of all shipments to and from TXL and HAM. United’s Control Tower encompasses the 24/7 team of experts who manage every process throughout the life cycle of each TempControl shipment.

“TempControl customers may choose from an increasing number of convenient service and packaging options,” said United’s statement.
