DB Schenker Offering Faster Connection from China to Europe Via Rail
DB Schenker is now offering a faster connection between China and the European land transport network.
The German-based logistics service provider is offering a regular service from China to Europe, using its own containers in which less-than-container load quantities (LCL) can be distributed throughout Europe via the DB Schenker network.
DB Schenker’s aim is “to distribute the goods which have arrived in Europe through the trans-Eurasian rail corridor quickly and safely all over Europe via a seamless connection to our logistics network,” said Ewald Kaiser, board member at Schenker AG for land transport, “and consequently to offer customers an integrated holistic, door-to-door solution.”
Customers no longer have to fill an entire container but can book transport for smaller consignments and part loads. DB Schenker is using the regular rail connection from Wuhan to Duisburg which takes approximately two weeks from terminal to terminal.
The customer receives full door-to-door service from DB Schenker, including collection and consolidation of the consignments in China, arrangement of rail transport from Wuhan to Duisburg, and distribution throughout Europe via the DB Schenker network.
DB Schenker has operated container transport between China and Europe since 2011 for a many customers from various industries, using regular block trains on different routes. Overland rail routes make sense for products which can be transported more quickly than by sea and cheaper than by air freight. When the goods arrive in Duisburg, DB Schenker organizes the further overland transport to every European country, providing a delivery chain from a single source.
