What Is Sculptra Aesthetic?
Sculptra Aesthetic is a wonderful new treatment that replaces the depleted volume as we age. It is no longer just an injectable but a “bio-stimulator” that replaces your lost facial volume with your own collagen. It provides a gradual and significant increase in fullness improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. Sculptra® is composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a safe bio-compatible material that is eventually just hydrolyzed into carbon dioxide and water. It is a bio-stimulator that stimulate the production of your own collagen. It is your own collagen that provides the actual fullness and not the PLLA.
Why Sculptra® Aesthetic?
Long Lasting. It was shown in a clinical study to last for up to 2 years after the first treatment session.
One vial of Sculptra provides more volume than a syringe of traditional fillers to improve facial atrophy.
Provides a whole new way to think about and treat facial aging. It replaces lost volume of the face and does not just treat a line or crease.
Subtle, gradual improvement over a few months. Keep your friends and family guessing as you gradually un-age.
It improves the condition of the skin. Unlike other filler, Sculptra stimulates the fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen. Fibroblasts also make many other proteins that help rejuvenate the skin.
Does not require a skin test.
Which areas are commonly treated?
The midface correcting the malar crease and nasolabial folds. This one of the earliest signs of aging.
The side of the face or lateral cheeks
The pre-jowl area or the sides of the chin
Other important facts
Sculptra requires a series of treatments. A good rule of thumb to estimate the number of vials or treatments is one vial per decade of life. A 40 year old may require 4 vials. A 50 year old 5 vials.
Sculptra® should not be injected into a muscle. The muscle contraction may lead to collection of the Sculptra® particles creating a lump under the skin.
Other side effects such as bruising and swelling are related to the needle sticks and not the Sculptra itself.
